So where does the name ipod come from? Well, some people think that iPod actually stands for Internet Palm Operated Device while others think it might be Internet Personal Organization Device.
Most people understand of Pod would be a detachable container and i stands for internet. It make sense since the name iPod was actually proposed by Vinnie Chieco who was a freelance copywriter. He basically got his inspiration from the movie Space Odyssey from the funny phrase "Open the pod bay door, Hal!".
